This month's message highlights a very important part of APICS Los Angeles Chapter:  our member volunteeers. 

 

The chapter is very excited to be led by an outstanding Board of Director volunteers -- all who also hold full-time jobs as well as participate in a variety of community organizations and events.  Our member volunteers are dedicated individuals, both to their profession and personal lives.

 

I'd like to proudly share two updates on our member volunteers accomplishments from both a personal level and a professional level: 

 

Lee Schwartz, prior VP Programs: Mitchell Schwartz, son of LAPICS chapter VP of Programs Lee Schwartz and younger brother of NFL veteran Geoff Schwartz, was recently selected by the Cleveland Browns as the #5 pick in the second round of the NFL draft.  Being the 37th pick overall, Mitchell was the third offensive tackle to come off the boards and the 5th lineman overall to be drafted.  Geoff Schwartz is heading into his 5th year in the NFL, having signed a free agent contract this offseason with the Minnesota Vikings after playing for the Carolina Panthers since being drafted in 2008.  Mitchell and Geoff, offensive linemen both, are slated to be in their respective starting line-ups as the season kicks off in September.  Congratulations, Lee!

 

Mike Johns, VP Membership: Congratulations to Mike Johns, CPIM who completed the Chapter's APICS IDP Instructor Training courses and will be teaching his first APICS Course in his career:  Basics of Supply Chain Management in September.  Mike and his wife, Sandra, will be attending International Conference in Denver in October.
