Professional Development Meeting
Lean in a Distribution Environment
Presented by: Mike Gigliotti and Michael Woolridge, California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC)
Wednesday, May 2nd
Holiday Inn Torrance / 19800 S Vermont Ave, Torrance, CA 90502
(310) 781-9100
A case study of lean in a distribution environment reveals how lean tools and concepts such as standardized work, quality at the source, facility layout, operations measuring, flow and automation, help identify and eliminate waste. The actual Value Stream Map (VSM) will provide a backdrop for discussion of the original baseline, the desired future state and the lean tools and concepts applied.
The resulting changes moved the company from a “middle of the pack” to a “best in all categories” leader in 6 months and became a catalyst for development of additional logistics sites. Lean continuous improvement processes empower team members to proactively identify and resolve issues as the lean journey continues.
Case Study
This CMTC Case Study of a major automotive parts supplier will outline how Lean principles, culture and Value Stream Mapping delivered results that truly streamlined the facility flow and more than doubled the expected operational performance from the engagement.
