Join us for this month's Professional Development Meeting (PDM), "A Global View of the Supply Chain Challenges Facing Vans, Inc" Our speaker, Dana Guidice, is VP of Product Development & Manufacturing for Vans Inc./Protec. Dana is an expert in the sourcing, development, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain of footwear & sporting equipment. He has also been actively involved in ERP (including SAP) rollout projects to several corporations. Dana's success lies in building teams and processes to manage product lifecycle, from design to customer delivery. Vans Inc./Protec is a $500 million global company and is a subsidiary of Vanity Fair Corporation, which has global revenues exceeding $6 billion. Vans has seen business double since 2002 and currently enjoys an on-time delivery rate of 90%+. Dana will provide a brief history of Vans and its branding strategy in the athletic footwear industry. He will also discuss the major milestones the company has achieved in its transformation from a domestically-owned firm into that of an international off-shore enterprise. With a "big picture" view Dana will present the rationale of Vans' company-wide ERP conversion. With an eye towards the logistics requirements related to order fulfillment, freight consolidation and off-shore manufacturing, he will demonstrate how Vans has gone from mass production to a lean approach to supply chain management. Key process areas will be highlighted, including front-end sales, shipment tracking, inventory distribution, supply constraints, and delivery metrics.

This event is a chance to gain valuable insight into international supply chain dynamics and to hear a first-hand account of the challenges this company has confronted and that virtually any company is likely to face in today's global economy.
