President's Message

February 2016 - Volume I

Greetings!

“I can’t believe we’re halfway through the year already,” I remarked to a LAPICS member the other day.   The member politely reminded me that the current month was January, and that a new year, with all its activities and resolutions, had just kicked off.  I was instead referring to the APICS Los Angeles Chapter Board term year, which runs July to June each year, and much of those “new year” activities were completed months ago.

Although the Chapter established its goals and objectives (or “new year’s resolutions”) in July, on an individual basis I still feel the need to set personal and professional goals on a calendar year basis, usually by January 31st.

Most of my new year’s resolutions include actions like fostering a better relationship with family members (calling my mom every week!), enhancing a skill (get my CS&OP certification), or finally using that gym membership that I’ve been paying for every month for the last year.  “Giving back to others” always makes my annual list and is usually accomplished through volunteer time, whether it's through my church, animal organizations, or professional organizations such as APICS.

Have you set your new year’s goals yet?  Even if you have, I encourage you to also consider APICS involvement as you review resolutions or set professional goals.   Listed below are ten goals you may want to consider for this year’s resolutions:  (click on the # to access information to start this goal)
